Desire versus Passion.
Desire is a strong 'want' that is under the control of the conscious mind.
Passion is an 'emotional need' that is under the control of the subconscious.
You can have a Desire for something and not be Passionate about it.
You can have a Passion for something and not actually want it (consciously).
Ultimately the subconscious controls everything, it allows the conscious mind to think what it wants as long as it does not go against the subconscious protocols that are in place either genetically or have been put into place enviromentally.
This is the missing piece of information that I did not consider until I noticed it when I reached 60 years old!
The subconscious mind ultimately controls everything including the conscious mind. It is not a two way communication where you have a conscious say in what it does. It only allows you (the conscious mind) to put input into the subconscious as long as it does not conflict with the current protocols of the subconscious. It will only allow inputs that enhance it's objectives. (The rest it ignores or circumvents).
Eg. It allows you to breath consciously as long as your CO2 levels in your blood are above a specific amount. It will send you signals as the CO2 rises but it will abruptly take back control without further warning when the limit is reached and there is nothing you can do about it, even if you are under water and drown!
The subconscious mind preserves (you) with what it KNOWS, it does not judge good or bad, only what it knows to preserve the status quo. Therefore it will repeat what worked to save you up until now, even if it harms you in the future. What you believe consciously may be better, but it does not use beliefs as they are unknowns, unless it has experienced it first hand, then it becomes a known.
The example of breathing is known to be normally under the control of the subconscious, but unknown to everyone is the same control occurs with EVERYTHING but at varying degrees, giving the impression that we consciously have control, but ultimately it is the same total control by the subconscious, when it sees fit to take control it takes control without necessarily notifying the conscious mind. (Or it gives the conscious mind something else to think about, while it does what it wants).
